In the early days, pasteurizing manufacturing facilities was not well equipped locally. Valuable nutrient sources like milk can not be easily obtained. In contrast, condensed milk have the advantage of easy storage and rich nutrient content, hence it became the perfect substitution of fresh milk at that time.
In 1930’s, condensed milk becomes more popular in Taiwan, but only until 1970’s customer have more varieties of choices. However it is only available to the family with better economic status since it was considered to be luxury imported products.
